Fleet tracking + passenger check-in platform

Track your routes and boardings – with a single phone

Sentinel-Locate is Diavox's fleet-tracking and passenger check-in platform for transport operators. The driver's phone is the only hardware: a live map, NFC/RFID boarding registration, GDPR-friendly data handling (we store no employee names), a client portal and reports – priced by module and headcount.

How the platform works

Hardware-free, in four steps – from setting up the phone to the driver's boarding scans, the live map and the client report.

  1. 1. Set up the phone

We install the driver app on an Android phone assigned to the bus – no expensive onboard GPS unit, no fitting. Optionally a cheap HID RFID reader connects to it.

  2. 2. Driver: boarding scans + GPS

The passenger taps a card (Web NFC or RFID) while the phone's GPS reports the position every ~10 seconds. With no signal the scans wait in a local queue, then sync automatically.

  3. 3. Live data on the map

Each route's real-time position appears instantly on the live map (MapLibre + OpenStreetMap), with automatic stop matching and delay alerts.

  4. 4. Client report

The client sees the boardings in its own portal and receives an accurate, name-free headcount report – with CSV/XLSX export and billing-base data.

Six modules, one platform

Sentinel-Locate is built from six separately priceable modules – switch on only what your fleet needs.

  • Live tracking

The bus phone's GPS pings every ~10 seconds; a live MapLibre + OpenStreetMap map, automatic stop matching (50 m) and ETA – with no Google Maps licence.

  • Passenger check-in (NFC/RFID)

Card boardings on the driver's phone (Web NFC) or one cheap HID RFID reader. Offline-first: scans and GPS wait in a local queue, then sync without duplicates – no boarding is ever lost.

  • Client portal

Each client company logs into its own isolated portal and sees strictly its own boardings and headcount reports, with CSV/XLSX export. Airtight multi-tenant isolation.

  • Reports and export

Operator and client reports: headcount per route and day, route performance, billing-base data – in XLSX and CSV.

  • Fuel and mileage

Per-vehicle fuel profile and fill-ups, mileage from GPS and manual odometer, fuel cost and consumption tracking.

  • Notifications

Delay and incident emails to the client, scheduled report delivery, and automatic GPS-feed-outage detection that alerts if a vehicle stops reporting.

Two things it does better than classic fleet trackers

Sentinel-Locate is not another GPS box. The two biggest differences: its approach to privacy and its cost of entry.

PII-free by design – a built-in GDPR advantage

The system stores only the card ID, the GPS coordinate and the timestamp – no employee names, no personal data. Mapping a card to an employee stays on the client company's side, based on its own records.

The phone is bound to the bus, not the driver, and there is no tracking outside the shift. This is a genuine privacy advantage over systems that store personal data: less data, less risk, simpler compliance.

Cheap to invest, rich in software

The hardware is the phone itself – complemented by at most one cheap RFID reader per bus. A fraction of the cost of classic telematics GPS-box fleets, with no multi-year hardware lock-in.

The richness lives in the software: a live map, offline check-in, a client portal, reports, fuel tracking and notifications – on one platform, split into modules.

Why Sentinel-Locate?

The phone-first approach runs through the whole platform – from rollout to pricing.

  • Modular, per-headcount pricing

Buy only the modules you need, priced on the actual headcount transported – the price scales with the client, with no oversized subscription.

  • Scales to many clients

One platform, many client companies – each with fully isolated data. A new client can be added quickly and safely.

  • Fast, hardware-free rollout

Android-based, remotely managed setup: no on-site fitting, no driver-dependent hardware – a new operator can go live in days.

  • Open map, no Google dependency

MapLibre + OpenStreetMap – no per-map licence fee and no vendor lock-in to a map provider.

  • Self-hostable

Deploy it on your own infrastructure (Proxmox or a VPS), or let Diavox host it for you – your data stays where you want it.

  • Proven in live operation

Not a prototype: it has run at Ventona Trans for 4+ years, across over a million boardings, in Penny and Tesco employee shuttles.
